p.2 scenario planning is one of the best ways to prepare for an uncertain
future
p.4 It is always worth asking yourself: "how could I be wrong?"
p.7 Diversity really does matter. Inviting people into the conversation
who make you uncomfortable is a very good idea.
p.27-28 The Art of the Long View continues to sell. It succeeds through simplicity. To do scenario
planning well, there are better books - such as Kees van der Heijden's, Scenarios: The Art of the Strategic Conversation,
which is a very good users' guide to the technique. It is comprehensive, rigorous, and rich with examples. But The Art
of the Long View is a particularly accessible introduction, which is why business professors recommend that their students
read it to understand the idea and value of scenario planning.
