Jeff Lynne of the Rock group ELO decided to rewrite the lyrics of one of his songs to try to make it appeal to a younger
audience. His producers laughed a bit, then rejected the song.
A scrap of paper, found on the floor of a recording studio, and thought lost, was recently rediscovered, and reveals
these words as the failed attempt.
The witty greets are empty now THE LIGHTS DON'T SHINE NO MORE and ring-tone
songs are way down low TEXTING TEXTING TEXTING A sound that flows into my mind THE ECHOES OF THE DAYLIGHT of everything
that is alive IN MY BLUE WORLD
I text your phone when you are gone, I text your phone. text your phone
when you comin' home, I can't go on.
The dying embers of the light A FIRE THAT SLOWLY FADES TILL DAWN still
glow upon the screen so bright TEXTING TEXTING TEXTING The wired greets that hide away FROM HERE TO EVERYWHERE THEY GO scroll
past galore into the day IN MY BLUE WORLD
I text your phone when you are gone, I text your phone. text your phone
when you comin' home, I can't go on. text your phone when you are gone, I text your phone.
Yes, I'm textin' your phone 'cos you ain't comin' home. Why you ain't
comin' home if I'm textin' your phone? You've been gone for so long and I can't carry on, yes, I'm textin', I'm textin',
I'm textin your phone.
The dancing shadows on the wall THE TWO-STEP IN THE HALL are all I see
since you've been gone TEXTING TEXTING TEXTING Through all I sit here and I wait I TEXT YOUR PHONE I TEXT YOUR PHONE You
will return again some day TO MY BLUE WORLD
I text your phone when you are gone, I text your phone. text your phone
when you comin' home, I can't go on. text your phone when you are gone, I text your phone.
I text your phone when you are gone, I text your phone. text your phone
when you comin' home, I can't go on. text your phone when you are gone, I text your phone.
