Matthew Bellamy of the Rock group Muse had an earlier career where he worked at the help desk of an Information
Technology company.
Matthew did nothing all day, like most IT people, except construct plots to make computer users unhappy and
to essentially lock them out of their computers.
One day he got called into his manager's office and was told that he would have to write the requirements document for
the new web page that their customer wanted.
Unfortunately, the customer couldn't say what they wanted. Worse, the Web Page programmers couldn't follow a requirements
document anyway. The test team didn't know how to test the requirements to see if they were met.
Matthew told his manager he couldn't write one, but that he would try.
Matthew tried to write the requirements document, gave up, and decided to write a song instead.
Matthew assembled the Web Page development team in the IT shop and played this song for them on his guitar. The team
liked the song, but couldn't determine what they were supposed to do.
The Web Page Team failed, the customer was unhappy, and Matthew's manager transferred him to the first tier of the help
desk, the lowest place in the IT shop, and he began to make deeper plans to make his users even unhappier than they already
were.
Popped Corn (New Born, Muse)
Link it to the world, link it to yourself Etch it on those C-D's
The love for what you hide, the bitterness inside Is growing like a popped corn
When you've seen, seen Too much, too young, young Soulless is everywhere
View it us-ing Chrome Persistence click-ing "home" fades away to nowhere How much are you worth?
You can't come down to earth You're swelling up, you're unstoppable
'Cause you've seen, seen Too much, too young, young Soulless is everywhere
Destroy the spineless, show me it's real Wasting our last chance to come away Just break
the silence 'Cause I'm drifting away, away from you
Yeah, link it to the world, link it to yourself Etch it on those C-D's And the love for what
you hide and the bitterness inside Is growing like a popped corn
When you've seen, seen Too much, too young, young Soulless is everywhere
Destroy the spineless, show me it's real Wasting their last chance to come away Just break
the silence 'Cause I'm drifting away, away from you
